These small mammals, known for their soft, beautiful fur are native to South America. Here is authoritative information on chinchilla traits and behavior, health, housing, feeding, breeding, and general care. Barron's popular line of Pet Handbooks resembles the Pet Owner's Manuals series, but are larger--more pages, more photos and line illustrations, and more detailed advice and information. Comments about The Chinchilla Handbook:

Anyone considering chinchilla ownership should read this book!! There are very few books on the specific needs of these adorable critters and what little information is available, is often inaccurate and very incomplete. Best source of information is a knowledgable breeder, but this book is definitely the next-best thing. Any chinchilla owner should have this on hand as a reference!!
