Comments about Raised Feeders Store-N-Feed - Junior:
Love these feeders! I bought a second one to leave at my mom's house.
Comments about Raised Feeders Store-N-Feed - Regular:
This feeder works great for my senior Golden Retriever. I bought this as a solution for when I board my dog. I have a larger raised feeder for everyday use, but it would take up too much room in the kennel at my vet's office. I mainly bought the Store-N-Feed for its compact size and reasonable price. I didn't think I would use the storage compartment, but it has proven to be very handy. I'll break my review down into pros and cons:
-Quality. It has held up well (bought in August 2011). I believe this feeder will last a while. It hasn't shown any major signs of wear and tear. It is relatively sturdy, but can slide around if it isn't weighted down with something.
-Storage. Storage was not a major selling point for me, but now that I've used it, I don't think I would want to be without it. I can fit a lot of items inside the storage area with room to spare (food, treats, leash, toys, etc.) and it has a smaller footprint than my current raised feeder. I used to pack these items in various bags, but this takes up less space and it is easier to transport.
-Adjustability. I use the taller setting for feeding and the shorter for transporting. At first I was confused as to how to switch between the two, but simply lifting up and rotating the top half 180 degrees will adjust the height .
-Design. I like that it has removable bowls as this makes for easy cleaning. Although I don't use it, the water bottle option is a nice bonus. Also, the cream color is neutral enough that it matches almost any decor.
-I don't know that I would actually store food inside of the container. It is a pain to remove the water-filled top half to access the food every day. If you are trying to put the top back on, it has to be lined up perfectly (something difficult to do with water in the bowl). Also, it is not a sealed compartment, so bugs could get inside.
-I wish it had a locking top because this would make carrying easier.
-You have to remove the stainless steel water bowl to use the water bottle attachment. As I mentioned earlier, I do not use this feature. I prefer to keep my dog's water in the stainless steel bowl because it is easy to clean. I don't like the idea of keeping drinking water in the plastic for fear of bacteria growing there.
-The 12" height works great for my Golden, however, he is slightly smaller for his breed. I would say this feeder works best for medium to (normal) large dogs. I don't know if it would be tall enough for a dog too much bigger than a standard sized lab or golden.
Overall, I like this raised feeder and have even considered using it as my everyday dog bowl. Even with the (minor) cons, I would still recommend it to someone. I think that for the price, I'm getting a decent product that, overall, I can't really complain about.
