Comments about Feline Health Nutrition Instinctive Kitten:

This is a fantastic food for all kittens, but especially shelter kittens or those who have past or current health issues. A major part of Royal Canin's approach is nutritional support for healthy immune system development. It is the follow-on food to Royal Canin's Babycat Instinctive, which is a softer pate first solid food for 1-4 month olds.

I first became familiar with the Royal Canin brand from working in a shelter with very young kittens, many of whom came in with serious health issues. I recently adopted two kittens from that shelter, and they've been raised on Babycat Instinctive and now Kitten Instinctive for four months now.

There are so many plusses with this food - the kittens always love it. It has outstanding nutritiou, protein content and calorie density, plus probiotics, anti-oxidants, etc. Not a strong oder, and the kittens like it so much there's never left-over food getting funky on their plates.

The results are fantastic - my kittens (siamese/tortoise shell mixes) have amazing coats, perfect age appropriate size and weight gain, very consistent and low-odor poop and pee (which is a good indicator of digestability and nutrient absorption), great activity and energy levels. Both of them were URI exposed in the shelter, as often happens, and they have been completely healthy with no symptoms whatsoever. Their vet raved about how textbook perfect they were, and diet is of course a huge factor.

After seeing short term results with hundreds of kittens on Babycat Instinctive, and medium term results with my two new additions, I am a believer in this food and its quality and consistency.

Yes, it does have some wheat gluten in it, however, gluten tolerance issues in carnivores are much less common and typically less severe than in gluten intolerant humans. There will be a *very* small minority of kittens who won't tolerate any gluten containing food. Royal Canin does make several varieties of gluten-free foods and specialized prescription foods for a variety of gastrointestinal issues in both dogs and cats. In my experience and reviews of veterinary literature, gluten intolerance in cats is not significanly more or less common than intolerance of any other protein source. No food can be guaranteed to work for 100% of dogs or cats - every protein source has some small percentage who won't tolerate that protein but will be fine with other types. Given the overall results I've seen so far with this food, this would be my first choice.

Comments about Feline Health Nutrition Instinctive Kitten:

We have fed our kitten Royal Canin since the day we brought him home from the shelter. He has grown consistently healthier by the day and despite his insatiable appetite has maintained a perfect body weight. It's also worth noting he loves the flavor.

Comments about Feline Health Nutrition Instinctive Kitten:

Wonderful product... however, I made a mistake and bought "kitten" when I should have bought "baby cat" because my kitten is under 4 months old. These chunkier pieces are a bit harder for a tiny kitten to eat.
