Comments about Xpand Collar - Red:
I just read the other review of this collar and it really isn't about this particular collar at all. This collar does not have the usual quick release breakaway buckle most cat collars have and that is why I picked this collar for my 8 indoor only cats. Breakaways simply do not stay on a cat, they will find a way out of it almost immediately. I needed a collar that if one of them should happen to get let outside (which I sincerely hope never happens) it would stay on along with their ID tags attached in the hope they would be returned quickly without needing or counting on someone scanning for a micro chip. My cats do not seem to mind the collar at all. I am very happy with it's quality.
Comments about Breakaway Collar - Blue:
I purchased this breakaway collar for my new 6-month-old kitten, who is already micro-chipped but has proven to be a bit of an escape artist.
I just needed a safe way to attach a tag with my information so that if he got lost a trip to the vet or shelter to scan for a chip was not necessary for anyone who might find him.
This was easy enough to shorten to fit him but he hated wearing it. It's not soft, but not entirely inflexible either, so maybe it was just a little uncomfortable. No matter how much I shortened it (without making it too tight) he always managed to turn the breakaway clasp around to the front with his paw and unfasten it.
The clasp doesn't really snap into a locking position when inserted as much as it pinches the end enough that it won't unhinge without a very small amount of effort. General kitten play may even cause it to fall off.
I still prefer this type of collar versus a real buckle collar but I need one that won't fall off at the slightest tug. This one is definitely a breakaway collar but it does the job just a little "too well"...
